Creative Writing - English a key to success

Human as a social being good communication is a necessity. Lack of communication skill leads to problems. A strained relationship between countries, families or friends has its roots in the poor communication skill. In the multilingual context of India, we need a common language and it is undoubtfully the global language 'English '. It is the need of the day to equip ourselves to handle effectively situations which may call for a command of English. Most of the keralite students fail to communicate in English eventhough they have several degrees. English has become the criteria for selection in higher jobs. Even those who have a thorough knowledge of their subject falls in interview due to lack of communication. The communicative aspect of English has to be given importance even from primary classes. When the students come to the higher secondary level , they should have a sound base in English. English grammar should be taught very systematically in schools. It is not known why the teaching of grammar in schools has been dispensed with. A strong command over English is need of the hour for the keralite students. English should be taught with due importance while preserving and promoting vernacular.
